Letter from the Editor-in-Chief

Dear Reader,

The staff of The Rambler and I would like to introduce you to our new website. In the course of The Rambler's history, it has undergone a number of changes. When the first issue was published, it was very much in the format of a weekly newspaper. Over time, weekly became monthly and a more magazine format was introduced. The Rambler began printing in color and later it switched to a glossy paper. Throughout all of these changes, one thing remained the same: The Rambler was a place for students to come together and express ideas, debate, share news, tell a joke, and so many more things. There have been times where major debates have been waged across multiple issues with a new rebuttal printed every week. At other times, a writer has called for a moment of reflection.

In going through old issues and articles, I found one consistency, no matter who the writer or editors were at the time, I always wanted to read the next article. There were some articles that made me laugh, some that made me cry, some that made me look something up, and still others that made me want to write a response. That is the beauty of The Rambler, no matter who is on the staff and who is running it, no matter what format it is in, no matter if there is a large staff or just a few people who want to write a few things, there has always been something worth reading.

It is a daunting task to take on that legacy, and I can freely admit that I do not always feel up to the challenge. Every time I feel like the years of legacy are too much, I remember that I have an amazing staff who is always ready to support me. What you read here is not the work of one person but a group of people working to make something amazing together.

But I digress from the purpose of this letter. It is time that The Rambler undergoes another change. Rather than printing monthly, we are moving online and posting things every week. There are some familiar columns and there are some new ones. Please take a moment to explore what we have to offer and see if there is anything here that you would like to read. I hope that you, dear reader, will find something written here that will make you want to read something else, because then it means that my staff and I have succeeded.

God Bless,

Rachel Giaccio

Peanut Butter Cookies

As Lent begins next week, this will be my last dessert recipe for a while. My plan for Lent is to only publish recipes which are completely meatless, mainly different meal options but possibly a few bread recipes. But until Lent begins, I hope that you enjoy these cookies. Chocolate chip cookies are probably the most famous, but peanut butter cookies are one of my favorites. Using oats adds a nice flavor to the cookies without overwhelming them. Ingredients: 1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened 1/2 cup granulated sugar 1/2 cup honey 1 cup peanut butter 1 egg 1 teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon baking powder 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour 1/2 cup oats Instructions: Cream the butter and sugar. Stir in the honey and peanut butter. Mix in the egg. Add the salt and baking powder. Fold in the flour and oats. Chill the cookie dough for at least two hours. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Shape the cookies into small balls placing them on the cookie sheet about an inch apart. Cross hatch the ...

Recently a friend told me that she was craving oranges and chocolate. Another friend responded that she had a bag of oranges that needed to be used. So, to feed two birds with one cookie, I came up with a simple and delicious recipe for Orange Chocolate Cookies! This seemingly uncommon mix is an easy to bake delicious treat that is sure to liven up your day and make you crave more! Even better, the ingredients are common and cheap!
